NEXUS 1 could be a benefit to droid owners

Will the Nexus 1's release be good or bad for the droid?

Hey guys i just got the droid and am more than happy with it. 3 times in a row i have purchased a new device only for it to be replaced by a much better version a few months later. Examples: i bought the Lg voyager 1 month before release of LG env touch, ipod touch 2 weeks before ipod touch 2nd gen, and a dell laptop 2 months before a new version with major improvements came out.

So what's the deal? When i first heard about the nexus 1, just after buying my droid, i was afraid the same thing was going to happen to me a fourth time. But then I realized that this could be a good thing.

I noticed that the nexus 1 apparently has the same size and screen resolution as the droid, and once updated the droid will run the exact same software. So all the apps made by developers for the bound to be successful nexus 1 will also work perfectly on the droid.

So here's where I want your opinion...taking for granted the nexus one is released to the public and becomes as popular as the droid, do you think it will have a positive or negative effect on the droid?

Agreed , pretty much a droid without a keyboard , so with us getting 2.1 as well , it really is a bonus

they are going to be so close in performance it'll come down to network preference.

the only thing that i am kind of unsure of is AMOLED performance in direct sunlight.

there is no doubt that the screen will look AMAZING in every other situation as it is on my ZuneHD, but it does washout easily...

so the more "advanced" handsets they can bring to android the better i say. BRING ON THE APPS! :D

I don't think it will steal the thunder. The Droid did it to the storm cause of the OS and hardware. The Nexus (isn't that hair product) appears to bring nothing new. Just another android device. Nothing ground breaking.

They continue to produce these quality phones running on Android with a quick response to problems.. Android is going to blow up bigger then anything, having windows phones and the iphone at their feet.

I think they are on to something here :)

Hopefully RIM too, lightning strikes twice and fails.

Loved the 2 storm updates the whole time I had that somewhat POS phone, I love the droid, fast boots, everything runs better and smother and barely have issues with anything if ever. Blackberry needs to quit recycling the same OS and make something new if they want to attract people who would like a more entertaining/business phone.

I think it will just help spread the android awareness/development. As long as the droid isn't left behind by google/devs we should be able to ride it until our next annual upgrade.

yeah, the Nexus looks like every other round-corner HTC/LG Android phone. I wouldn't choose it if it were available today. I love the Droid's super square look and then we'll get 2.1 and it's all good.
