Nexus 10 and Sony Blu-Ray player

If my Blu-Ray player is on, I can watch YouTube videos on my JVC television. What must I do to be able to watch any video on the Nexus 10, and not just YouTube?

You could always convert the movies that you own or download from the play store...

There are software that allows you to convert the dvd's that you own, e.g. handbrake allows you to do that.

I am talking about short videos, not movies. File types like mp4, .avi, etc.
