Nexus 4 - disable phone function

Hi,
I have a Nexus 4 activated on a tablet plan - I do not have a need for the phone as I use only VoIp
Is there a way to disable the phone functions without affecting data? I want to improve the battery life.

If you're rooted you can probably just freeze that function so you don't have to completely get rid of it.
