The stock app for your contacts is the People app. The people app is fine, sure, but it doesn't really match the dialer at all. I'd prefer to not use the dialer to choose my contacts to text message, but the people app looks like it's created for an entirely different UI. Is there an ICS contacts app that is black like the ICS dialer?

I know it might not be a big deal to some, but I'd prefer a shortcut/app that takes me directly to the contacts section within the dialer.

I don't know. But I agree with you, it's weird...and no sir...i don't like it.

With that said, I never use the contacts app. I just use the contacts tab in the dialer.

Someone suggested this and I've been using it; use the Google Search bar. Start typing your contact's info and it will pop up... why the dialer doesn't have T9 is also beyond me. After a bit of a search I was considering xPhone Pro.

The Google search bar is definitely good, but it still pulls up the oddly made people app :-(

Google's attempt at integrating their own app with Now? At least it will only show contacts with letters matching your search, from there it's one tap to select the contact, a second to place your call.

I use Go Contacts and Dialer. You can define what you want to come up first in Go Dialer. Contacts, last calls, Dialer pad etc. Plus access any of these from within the Dialer.

Excuse me if my question has been answered here and on the internet million times, but this new Jelly Bean (People/Contacts) is confusing me as hell....and I am already having sleepless night ever since I bought the Nexus 4.

I am not quite a geek like many of you here, so I will appreciate plain English please when replying.

I am not new on android devices, but this Jelly Bean and Nexus 4 is confusing me a bit with People (Contacts) sync.I must admit that I am not a very organized person, and on my Gmail contacts, I have got over 2000 email addresses which got automatically every time I composed a new email and besides that I also have got my regular phone contacts with numbers only. And now when I am synching the contacts, all those 2000+ contacts with email addresses are here and I feel like I am in hell, and there is no option to display people with phone numbers only???

Also I cannot see any options to save new numbers of my SIM only. Why is my life getting complicated with Nexus 4 or Jelly bean or whoever it is to blame for (even myself).

I really don't want to build my an entire new number only contact list from the scratch as that list will also be few hundreds.....

Can any one tell me the simplest way to make my life simple ??

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time ever in an android forum, so I am expecting few android gurus will come forward for my rescue.

Thanks in advance!!!!

CheerS!

When I had my Rezound I always envied the stock dialer. I kept looking for Apps that would emulate it. I like the Jellybean dialer. It is fast and clean.
