My main question so far is about the battery. Do you all think 2300 mAh is enough for this phone? I'm only asking because the new LG G2 & Sony Xperia Z1 are getting 3000 mAh batteries. Both have same chips but just a tad bit different MHz processors. Coming from the Nexus S 4G, Battery is a HUGE thing for me and wanting a good Nexus phone, I'm hoping to hear 2300 mAh will be very good during a daily use...

I appreciate any feedback and opinions.

I'm sure it will be fine. Should get you through the day no problem.

Pretty much the deciding factor that will most influence whether I upgrade or stick with the N4. I'm holding out for sy least 2500 if not 3000.

As long as it gets me through a day, which im sure it will, it will be fine. Plus there is always modified kernals to squeeze a little more juice out of it if need be.

2300 is a major difference from my Nexus S 4G's 1500 mAh but with the Nexus 5 obviously being bigger with the processor and stuff, just want to make sure 2300 mAh can handle THAT. I was hoping for a 3000 because they said the Nexus 5 was going to kinda be like the G2 with specs wise.

Nexus battery life should be on par with HTC One and S4 or better. I am not sure if it will last a full 24hr day but at least your worked day with moderate usage. The battery life is going to be good but not excellent like the Note 2,LG Pro, Note 3, and LG G2 simple because of the battery size.

On G+ yesterday or today (sorry losing track) Jerry indicated that the G2 is getting very similar battery life as the Moto X, which also has a 2300MAh battery. Depending on screen and processor choices, maybe we will see something in the same caliber as those two.

The reviews I have read have showed more promise than the Moto X. (3000mah battery) http://androidcommunity.com/lg-g2-review-20130914/

I watch 30 day challenge phonedog to get a better idea on battery life.

The phone then very good battery life judt not at the caliber if it 3000mah battery. I need that 3000mah. I am a heavy user.

Hopefully it is netting more, but I found the link to the post:

He tested the two identically for a day and the Moto X won, but not by much.

According to Anantech the battery life on the G2 is very impressive, although admittedly their tests are not real world usage, they're specific standard tests that they run on everything. Depending on the test, they found the G2 to outdo the Moto X by about 25-100%, which is fairly expected given the 30% larger battery capacity.

Clearly both anecdotal, but both accounts are from writers I trust.

From what I've read the G2 has superior battery life. One of the saving graces for the Moto X is the active notifications which just barely sip on the battery. Actual screen time, usage, surfing and games etc and the G2 pulls away.

If the Nexus 5 is indeed made by LG which appears to be a certainty at this point it will not have an Amoled screen which is the key to Active notifications since the whole screen doesn't need to be turned on.

So battery life will probably be similar to the Nexus 4 which wasn't enough for me. I suppose I can get the G2 and put CM10 on it but I'm holding out hope for a bigger battery first.

We are just guessing at this point, that said if the 2300 battery size is true it seems odd to me as given the performance of the phone its going to be eaten up pretty quick.

Guys are getting a solid 24 hours with the G2 but its battery is much larger...even a 2800 would be sufficient.

I'm was a little worried about it being 2300 mah with a 5" display, but as I understand it, the S800 platform is shockingly power efficient. It would have to be if it can hit 2.3 GHz. I'm thinking that the chipset combined with power management improvements in 4.4 (I've seen major gains in my Nexus 4 with 4.3) will make up enough of the difference for 12+ hours of normal use even with a 5" display.

The battery capacity is of some concern to me but I can wait to see how well the phone is optimized and efficient before getting anxious about it. Of greater concern to me is the fact it will be a sealed battery not user replaceable. This is a very big deal to me especially since I keep my phones at least two years and have had to replace the batteries in my past two phones to keep them functioning properly. Battery life does diminish over time and I've seen the average is about 1-2 years for me when battery replacement is needed.

My old phone was 1600 mAh and my S4 is 2600 mAh. It definitely lasts a lot more than twice as much even though the screen is easily twice as big. The Nexus 5 will definitely be more efficient that the Nexus S :)

From what I've seen in the G2 battery life thread most people are getting 2-3 hours of screen time and have about 10% left. Nothing special if you ask me

Yeah first I heard about the 2300 battery I was concerned. Hopefully the nexus 5 will employ envelope tracking in the RF transceiver, that would help the cell connection reduce power consumption. Not putting too much hope since it will probably be very similar to the lg g2. I'm also hoping the LG screen refresh g-ram will help. But if we assume this is developer phone, only saving grace will be 4.4 kitkat sw efficiencies. I would be happier if it was spec'd with a 2500 mah battery. Now compared to the nexus 4, the snapdragon 800 8974 will definitely be more power efficient than the snapdragon s4 8064. We'll have to wait and see in a few weeks.

It depends on the screen size. The screen is a huge user of battery, much more so than the processor. That is why the G2 and Xperia Z1 would have larger batteries if the N5's screen is the rumored 4.9x". 2300 mAh is inline with what the One and S4 have, so I think it would be fine on the N5.

So cut the battery to 2/3 and you get 1.5-2 hours screen time. I'm so tired of this on my GNex. Looks like if I want to replace my GN, it's gonna be compromise city on any of the phones out right now.
