So I finally got the update for the N7 yesterday and man I was surprised to see that it appears to be a lot different than the Nexus 5. It seems that Nexus 5 has some exclusive changes to it that no other Kit Kat device has received. Anyone else notice this and shay gives?

The only thing exclusive to N5 is the Google launcher. and its easy to get it on any device, just get the launcher apk and install.

now u will have everything

Yeah, I was a bit surprised at the lack of any real changes to the tablet kitkat experience. I was really hoping for unlimited home screens at the least, so that was a big letdown. I mean it does seem to run smoother on my 2012 n7, however at this point it could be placebo. The only real visual difference is the white status icons but whoopee, that's hardly enough to get excited over. Of course I am looking forward to 4.4 on the n4 as there are more changes to notice. I guess it's obvious that android os updates are really meant for phones, but come on there are a lot of tablets out there too!

I just installed the GEL on my n7 and now it's just like the n5! I even get unlimited home screens....yay!!!!! Give it a try it's super easy to load up. I installed mine from a download link on xda. The only problem, the GEL found a flaw in my tablet display. On the lower bar that has always been blacked out it is now transparent but on both the right and left corners I have a yellow tinted smudge. I guess that part of the display was never meant to be lit so it was overlooked, but now that it is lit there is a display flaw. Sux!!

I'm a new Android person. Just switched over from iPhone about 4 months ago. I really am enjoying it but that stuff is over my head right now. I need to start trying to learn to do that though.

Yea I have to say I felt the same way. I was like " this is it? ". But maybe if I add the launcher I will be happy.

What's GEL?

Google Experience Launcher. Search the net for it and all you do is download the file. It will install just like a normal app and that's it, nothing to it. FYI, you do need to go under the security setting first and make sure to check the option to install from other sources. Very worth the 5 minutes to install.
