I've got a friend with a White 16GB Nexus 5 missing the camera app. Tried to run the .apk file found here and it didn't work:

I want to try and reset the phone from the factory image since he's already on 4.4.2, but I'm wondering if there's a better way to get the camera.apk out of the 4.4.2 image and sideload it? It's not rooted, and I don't think my friend would be comfortable with me going that far (haven't messed around with root for a while) so I was hoping there was a cleaner way to get him a camera app.

Please help me out if you can!

Thanks!

Are you sure the App is not disabled? Go to Settings, Apps and tab over to Disabled and see if it is there. If so, enable it.
