I currently have an iPhone 4s and hate it. Its beat to crap and I need a new phone. I have no rebate with my carrier and I'm looking at $400 to break the contract. Would you guys recommend buying a Nexus 5 from the Google Play store and selling my phone to recoup some of the loss?

Also whats your opinions on phones like this:

Amazon.com: BLU Life Pure Unlocked Phone (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories

Same price (give or take) great specs but an unknown (to me anyway) company. Seems risky?

If they're around the same price what's the perceived up side?

I'd strongly recommend that no one ever buy BLU devices but if it's a serious consideration, I'm curious why you think it may be better than the Nexus.

Just the hardware specs alone basically, dual sim may come in handy but something seems too good to be true about these random cellphone vendors? Have you had an experiance with BLU? I defiantly leaning more towards the Nexus 5, I just thought I'd ask before blowing cash I dont have haha.

Thanks for quick reply btw

Just noticed the quadcore processor and better camera. I'm not very educated in mobile hardware. Have you had a bad experiance with BLU? Sorry if this question seems ridiculous

Browser lagged out sorry for double post

I've never purchased one of their devices, my "bad taste" is more from their previous generations where they basically just cloned mainstream flagships. From what I can tell, you're getting a much better device from the Nexus 5 (better screen, better processor, vastly superior gpu, nfc, obviously better software, etc) and it's a known quantity with known support. I can see the appeal based on the price-tag factor, but keep in mind with the BLU you're paying $319 for a $300 device and with the Nexus you're paying $399 for something Samsung would push out at $650. To me those things are worth the extra spend, but as it's essentially a 25% increase in price, I can see the dilemma.

Not the dilema at all. I'd much rather shell out for the Nexus 5. I just wanted some educated opinions before taking the plunge. Kijiji says I can fetch about 250 for my phone and it'd be nice not to be locked to a carrier

The Nexus 5 is LTE, the BLU is a 3G phone. The Nexus 5 has a Snapdragon 800 processor, the BLU has a 1.5GHz processor, The N5 is KitKat, the BLU is Jelly Bean. The N5 is from Google and LG, the BLU is from a completely unknown company. You would have to be insane to choose the BLU over the N5.

I used to be alot more in tune with hardware, would of been able to make this decision on my own, thanks for the replies everybody. Just didn't want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a disappointment you know what I mean?
