Hey Guys,

I am outside my country for an internship in South Korea for 2 months, and I didnt bother to buy a cellular sim card, but I am just using wifi calls and texts from Whatsapp and Facebook. It has been working fine since 3 weeks but the past week a weird problem has been bothering me.
Whenever my phone is on standby, it doesnt receive calls or texts over wifi, as soon as i unlock it to check something on m phone, suddenly all the messages start pouring in, these messages are thus getting to me hours later. I noticed it might be coz my phone disconnects from the wifi when in standby. There is no problem in my wifi router since the same issue persists on 5 wifi networks that I have to use throughout the day.

My phone is not rooted and I havent installed any RAM savers or Application killers on my device.
What could be the cause of this problem and how can I resolve it.
P.S. I am using a Nexus 5 D820, which is now 2 years old and am using Marshmallow 6.0.1 on my device.

Help is much appreciated!
Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Moved to the main Nexus 5 forum, since you're not rooted.

Go to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu>Advanced, and make sure "Keep Wi-fi on during sleep" is set to Always.

If it already is, then go to Settings>Data Usage, tap Menu, and make sure it doesn't say "Allow Background Data" there. If it does, tap it, which will turn off the Restrict Background Data feature.

No, no and NO!!! My Nexus 5 wont turn Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.... No effect when i change settings in wifi or bluetooth menu.... Everythig in this menus is STUCK AND WONT WORK.... I tried everything.. Factory Reset over 10 times and even then my wifi stuck and wont search connections... I cant continue whit factory reset because my wifi STUCK.... I will blow up my Nexus and never trust google again! :'(:'(:'(

Most likely you experience hardware problems with WiFi/Bluetooth chip, which is common with Nexus 5, thanks to LG. Only few options you really have: re-solder or replace WiFi/Bluetooth chip, replace motherboard, replace phone.
