Hi,

Has anyone been experiencing issues with the camera. More specifically the playback of slow motion videos. I've recorded a few and initially the playback was fine, however recently the initial part of playback is played at double speed and the section for slow motion is slowed down. I can't seem to find anything in settings to tinker with. Anyone had this issue?

You have to press the edit icon and then a little dashed line appears over the time bar. There should be two adjustments markers on that dashed line to edit the slow mo.



My issue is that I like having the transition from normal to slow mo, but I can't get the phone to export it like that. When I export it it all becomes slow mo 100%

That's odd, I don't get any "edit" option for slow-mo videos (or any videos for that matter) in the stock gallery, just for photos...

I'm using the stock photos app. Maybe I'm on a different/newer version. my photos app version is 1.8.0.106438466

My camera takes FOREVER to take a pic and totally sucks for motion shots to get a still of whatever they are doing. Is there any way to speed things up? I have HDR off. It seems like the issue is how long it takes to focus. Anyone experience the same or similar?

I wonder what the best camera app to use is outside of Google Camera, which I REALLY hope they update for us soon. So in the meantime, what do you recommend? Thx!

I recommend the Manual camera app. Well worth the money and much faster than the stock camera in talking a pic. The stock camera is a joke!!!

Well it seems that the only way I've been able to overcome this at the moment is clearing the cache before planning to take a show motion video. It's not that the timeline bar didn't come up to edit it, it's more that before the slow motion kicks in it goes at double speed. Voices are like chipmunks but then slow motion kicks in. I suppose I'll need to wait for an update to resolve the bug.

Slow opening app I haven't come across it too often but I have seen it. Not sure why but manageable at the moment

I completely misunderstood.

I haven't run into the chipmonk speed problem and I've taken a bunch of slow mo video recently. I'll be on the look out for that issue

Well looks like I've encountered another bug where some of the videos that were slow motion, when watched recently are just playing as normal videos. The timer for doesn't move, just sticks to 0.00 but still plays without slow motion. Only way I got this going again was to restart my 5X!!!!!!!

Good news. Received an update last night from Google that fixed the following issues I've been having:

1. double tapping the power button to launch the camera no longer locks the phone.
2. HDR and focusing are processing in the background, no longer lag/delay. I can now rapidly shoot and focus.
3. no more chipmunk slow motion.
4. edited videos will now save

Looks like this was all part of the November security update.

Number 1 and Number 2 are both still a problem on my 5X with the MDB08L (November) update.

Do you have MDB08M or MDB08L jdnelsonkc?

sambartle_uk I have MDB08L as well. Carbon 32gb on AT&T network in the US (most of that shouldn't matter, but in case you were wondering).

Sorry you're still having issues. I'm now realizing that number 1 was only fixed because I changed my lock settings to 5 seconds, not immediate.

I'm still experiencing an improvement on number 2. HDR still isn't as fast as no HDR, but it's an acceptable speed now in my opinion. I wouldn't ever use it on something/someone in motion, though in my brief testing this still works at times.

I got the update but still the edited slow motion videos export completely in slow motion not just the part I selected. In fact, this update didn't seem to change anything with the camera, but I'm pretty happy with it honestly, and the HDR speed thing is understandable, It's not like you'll use it all the time.

Yeah I get the same. Also since the update it seems that the issues I originally had are still there. Sometimes clearing the cache works but other times I need to restart my phone. Not the best really but something I have to do
