Nexus 5x Nougat Wireless Emergency Alert

There was just a blurb on the radio news about emergency alerts to wireless phones which include terrorism alerts.

The last thread on this that I found on the entire site was 2012 or something.

Is this automatically activated in Nougat or just for some Nexus or just from some wireless services or.... add your option here?

If I need to activate it myself, how do I do that?

The Emergency Broadcast System or the government's equivalent of the country where your device is located will broadcast alerts that the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P can receive as long as these settings are enabled.

1. From the Home screen slide two fingers down from the top of your screen.


2. Under the Device section tap the Settings gear.



3. Tap Sound.


4. Scroll down and tap Emergency broadcasts.


5. Make sure all of the boxes for emergency alert settings are checked for the alerts you would like to receive.
