Nexus 5x won't recover!

Hey guys,

My nexus 5x suddenly won't turn on now, I tried to boot up with volume up/down and power button pressed, and it did boot into the green android robot screen.

As soon as I choose "Boot in recovery mode" and press the power button, the phone freezes and becomes unresponsive on the same screen.

Any help on how to unbrick this phone?

Do the reports given here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/help/blod-5x-wont-boot-t3783305) sound like your issue? My 19 month old N5X is doing exactly as reported there. I can get to bootloader (my device is unlocked), but I'm thousands of miles from my computer so I can't try anything. Nothing from recovery works because the screen goes black--like power goes off.
