Nexus 6 as LTE data-only tablet?

OK, very basic noob question here...

I am looking for a replacement for my Nexus 7 2013 LTE tablets that are wearing out.

I use the ATT "2GB of data for 3 months - LTE" prepaid data plan and Google Voice. No interest in getting a phone number, contract, etc.

So can I use this phone as a tablet with an ATT data-only nano SIM card?

I have been using mine with data-only Project Fi sim. You should be able to use yours with AT&T data-only sim with no issue. A few caveats though, you won't be able to make phone calls, viber, WhatsApp and the likes won't work properly because they are tied to phone numbers. Skype, Hangout work fine as they are tied to email addresses, Hotmail/Outlook.com, Gmail respectively.

You can use your Google voice number with WhatsApp
