Nexus 6 - Cant hear incoming calls over speaker or normal mode. Any thoughts?

I have a Nexus 6. Since yesterday, whenever I receive a call i cant hear the person on the other end ( normal / speaker mode), whereas the person on the other side can hear me clearly. Also when i play music on the speaker, i can hear the bottom speaker working but not the top speaker. I tried rebooting, uninstalling the phone app updates, rebooting in safe mode - nothing has worked so far. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forums. It may be a hardware failure. Literally the upper speaker is no longer working. Can you plug in a headset to see if that will help?

In my case, it isn't a hardware failure because I tested the speaker using other apps (like a podcast app) that play audio without a problem. Only the Phone app isn't working.
