I'd like to preface this entire conversation with the distinction that this thread is not about your personal preference on carrier branding ;-)

I've seen multiple website reporting that a reddit user easily removed the verizon branding on the Nexus 6 with his finger, a paper clip, and rubbing alcohol. I've only seen this one report. Have any of you tried this?

I and many others removed the AT&T logo from the back very easily. Like you I had seen it posted , went to YouTube and saw a guy use a coin and gentle rubbing ... First thing I did once I booted it up and signed in .... Very easy.... I assume Verizon would be similar?

I can confirm that a buddy of mine took off the Verizon logo off his that way. His, however, was left with just the tiniest visible scratches where he scrubbed away at the logo, perhaps too strong. But yeah, the logo on the Nexus 6 is supposed to be very easily removed.

So I got my nexus 6 and started trying to remove the carrier branding. I honestly don't see how you could remove it perfectly without somehow damaging the back of the device.

So, I stopped trying. Whats the best method?

Best way I have always done it has been using a penny. Doesn't leave scratches and requires little effort.

Might I suggest a back skin? There are a bunch of very nice ones available. (pardon the picture quality, the nexus letters cutout lines up well and looks good using real eyeballs.)

Update: removed the carrier branding today with a nickel and a little alcohol. As many others have reported it was surprising easy to remove the Verizon logo. It left no visible scratches just a little residue that was easily removed with alcohol. It was also how surprisingly light I had to scrape to remove it. I feel free.
