So will we finally see a 64gb model? Could Google add an external micro SD card for the first time on a nexus in years? If either one of these become true I'd cry. I'm looking into new phones and the lack of storage and battery capacity on the new moto x were a huge disappointment

I'd say the former is more realistic than the later, but I'd love both.

I'd be very surprised to see either. Both raise costs and provide no new functionality.

I don't see a Micro-SD card slot happening on a Nexus phone. 64gb I could see, but unsure if it would happen.

I seriously doubt both, this is a major concern of mine and why I'm looking elsewhere.

I expect 16GB/32GB.

It would shock me to see 32GB/64GB.

Maybe Google will mix things up and release a Nexus phone with either 16 GB or 64 GB of storage this year. (People will have fun debating the reasons for Google leaving out the 32 GB option.)

MicroSD card support will depend on Android L. I could see Google adding microSD card support in Android L to help the Android One line. However, it's also possible that Google will tell its OEM partner to omit the microSD card slot on the Nexus. This would give people an incentive to purchase an HTC One M8 Google Play edition, which comes with 32 GB storage and a microSD card slot.

Functionality is based on need, and the need for additional storage could take a large leap forward if Google includes 4k video recording on the Nexus 6. Irregardless of how little use most people would have for that feature, its inclusion while maintaining only the 16GB/32GB options and no removable storage would be highly frustrating to any who would use it, given how quickly it would eat up any available space.

I do think that a 64GB entry would be more likely than removable storage, though in the long term they may have to allow for that as well (look at BlackBerry, who for ages said they would never put in removable storage or a camera... until they did).
