Nexus 6, unsure of some hardware on it!

So I was looking closely at my Nexus 6, and noticed to the left of the top speaker is some camera/ir blaster looking thing that from what I've tried doesn't do anything. Does anybody know what it does?

It's not that no one is paying attention, One look and I'd know. I just don't have a Nexus 6 to look at. Try the manual. Is there a front view with a callout of parts?

There is but it's very simplistic, pretty much just shows the phone, charger, buttons, and that it has NFC.

EDT: Found out what it was! Did some further investigation, and realized it is the auto-brightness sensor. I held my thumb over it for a bit, and it assumed it was in complete darkness, and when I brought it into a bright light, it didn't adjust.
