Ok I have the Nexus 6 not the 6P. So I believe that I'm getting "N" and if so if I do get the update, should I get the new Nexus (2016) or just keep going with the one I have. I was going to get the Moto Z but I decided not to because more then likely the update will be like a new phone for me anyway...please help

Re: Nexus 6 vs Htc Nexus (2016)

The new Nexus seems to have a lot going for it over the 6P and especially the 6. The 6 will be getting the N updated. I have the 6 and the 6P (and the 5X) and will be getting the Marlin at least, if not both of the new ones. Moto Z is a whole lot of money, especially if you get the "Force" one, which improves the camera, has a much huger battery and has the shatterproof screen. I'm expecting the new Nexus to be cheaper than that and just be a better device overall.

Hey I have the N6 and I'm looking at changing my phone, even though it will indeed get N.

For me, the reasons for changing are (in order of importance):

- the camera (I need something much better for photos in low light)
- battery life could be better
- I wouldn't mind something smaller

If it wasn't for the camera though, I think I'd stick with my N6 a while longer, if only to see if I can have some discount on the HTC nexus a bit later in its life cycle.

So I guess the question would be, what is it that is no longer satisfactory for you with the Nexus 6?

There's also the N6's Snapdragon 805 processor. While it's still a perfectly good SOC and the N6 still handles everyday tasks perfectly well, time has definitely caught up with the 805. Even in 2014 at the time of release, people were wondering why the N6 was released with a 32-bit processor when LP was built for 64-bit devices. Now two years on, with AR and VR becoming just plain R, the 805 and the N6 are both actually past their sell-by date (from a 2016 viewpoint).

I'm using a 2014 Moto X, very close in age to your Nexus. I'm going to upgrade this year, here is why.

The battery has become awful
It only charges when it wants to
The screen burn in is miserable (the space between the notification bar and nav bar is orange, the bars have icons burned into them)
It has a crack in the screen (has for over a year, womp womp)
It's just laggy
Not enough storage
Never once got an update after the lolipop release hit the moto x
It's just a stupid pile of trash

If you hate your phone (like I do) get rid of it. If you still think it's great, keep using it. If you start to hate it next summer, great, get rid of it. Nobody here can tell you if your current phone is good enough for your daily use. Maybe these parameters will help you decide what's right, for you.

Anything Nexus related is great, in my opinion. If you want to hold out for the newest Nexus, that is totally your call. Or course, if you're still unsure, you could still wait and see if any other new devices come out that catch your eye.

I, myself, am very interested in seeing what the new HTC/Nexus device will be like. It is definitely something that will make fall more exciting!
