Re: (video) look at this guy's phone from normal use
Once upon a time there was something large (5" and over) but thin created called a modern smartphone. Some companies made theirs out of plastic and the people cried "But sirrah, we hate this cheap looking plastic! Please create another?" And Lo the creators heard their plea and set out to fabricate a glass backed phone. Again the people cried in unison, "Oh sirrah, this looks nicer but we hate that glass is so slippery and are afraid these fragile glass phones will break easily!"
And so again the creators heard their plea and set out to fabricate an aluminum phone which isn't as rigid as glass or as springy as plastic and the world wide interwebz was awash with bendy FUD about the iPhone, HTC One, Samsung S6 and Nexus 6p. (yep you guessed it, all those models have gone through this story)
~~~~The end
The moral of the story is that you can't do right by everyone no matter what these things are made out of. None of these fancy material phones are immune to stuff like what was linked above (and mentioned over and over again in countless other threads across numerous devices). Your solution? Either wait until the smartphone makers melt down Captain America's vibranium shield to make smartphones or return yourself to the days of plastic and/or a 4" smartphone.
Or you could do what I do knowing that this stuff slips through QC all the time no matter what brand you go with and RMA it until you get one that makes you happy. I've bought budget devices, I've bought expensive devices. In both cases I've had to RMA imperfections. Sometimes 2-3 times! With that in mind, while I happened to get a 6p that hasn't exhibited a single one of the various issues others have reported, would I RMA it if I did knowing what I know about the one I have for another 6p?
In a heartbeat.
If you let these posts and videos and articles get to you, you should really just consider not buying smartphones because you need to accept that this stuff happens no matter how many times you pump your fist in the air and yell "dammit I refuse to accept anything less than perfect for my hard earned money!!" because nobody's listening to mister outraged indignant consumer pants. Yeah I get it, you want quality. So do I. But this stuff will happen. It'll happen whether you buy a fancy new Sub-Zero $5000 fridge for your custom kitchen remodel or a $1000 Frigidaire. The nexus 6p is still the Sub-Zero of the smartphone world this year either way. For that matter so are a few other brands that have had this kind of FUD aimed at them.
If you still don't want to take my word for it, there are plenty of trustworthy tech media writers who feel the same way about this phone and are quite pleased with this one. I was tempted to write this as a thread all of its own but I feel that would just unnecessarily contribute to the problem rather than ease it so I'll simply add the following by-line:
