Hey guys. I've made a post on here a few weeks regarding battery life on my 6p. It's been horrible the last 3+ weeks and this thing is running so hot. I've deleted so many apps, keep wifi off when away from it, keep Bluetooth off, turned off Google now, and keep my brightness down.

As soon as I start using the phone, it warms up quickly and stays hot until I put it down for several minutes. The battery drain is ridiculous and its getting to the point where I can't leave the house for more than 4-5 hours without it dieing on me. I've cleared cache as well and it's done nothing.

Hopefully replacing this phone for the second time will fix my issues. If not, I'll sell it and pick up a Priv. I have had this 6p since November but battery and heat are getting to be a pain in the a**. Any ideas or suggestions?

PS: SOT is 2-3 hours at best.

This is not a normal thing, so you must have some kind of app that causes this. Have you looked at the list of memory usage? Another thing to check would be the list of apps and processes that use the battery the most.

Install GSAM. It works better with root for wakelock issues but in your case you will easily be able to see what the rogue app is draining the battery.

Or run in safe mode. If it stops, you have a bad app. If not you have a bad phone.

I just installed in and I'll give it a shot for a few days

View attachment 227983I charged my phone last night to 100% and had everything turned off except data and Bluetooth. In just 6 hours, the battery dropped 14% without me touching it.

please install GSam app and run it to see what keeps your phone awake.
and try to run it safe mode to seee if this make any change like mentioned above.

overheating and battery draining.
i recieved april security patch level.and recieved may security patch level, this last solved my overheating problem.
battery improved slightly but not that much.
now during the normal usage with data off, bleutooth off, location off i lose 1% in 3 minutes.

GSam is installed on the phone. Each day there is something different that's draining the battery. It was an app called "outlook" so i uninstalled it. Still had the issues and now it's Google services.

my nexus 5 also used to drain fast.
the problem is one day it says wifi drained my battery, the other day it says phone standby...
it seems like a weak battery and start simply to put the blame on apps randomly 😃
try a hard reset if doesn't help try to downgrade Android Os or wait for Android N it may fix your problem,at least you have a hope ! 😉

I can't deal with the heat. After using the phone lightly for 2-3 minutes, it gets so freaking warm. I have a case that I got from Google. Took that off bad used the phone for a few days and it made no difference. Sucks that $600+ phone has **** poor battery life.

Chances are that it is an app that is causing your issues. Apps that are known for keeping phones with Marshmallow awake: Weatherbug, GasBuddy, and Facebook, and possibly a few others. If you have one of these apps installed, you might try removing it and see if it fixes battery life.

My best guess is that you have some app on the phone preventing the phone from "sleeping" (screen off but phone still active).

I had such terrible experiences with the Facebook app on my old Note 2 that I eventually deleted it and haven't bothered to install the app on the 6p at all.

I have a couple of games which drain the battery like crazy and will heat up the phone, otherwise it does fairly well with its battery life. Still wish that it had a removable battery though...

Same exact problem here.
GSam blames the screen, but the brightness is set for 40%.
I even upgraded to the beta of Android N hoping it will solve the problem but no luck

I'm having heating issues and bad battery life. To top it off the more I use it the more The more laggy it becomes. It gets so laggy the keyboard gets stuck for minutes after I'm finished typing. This issues started a few months ago and I reset my phone and nothing. After I upgraded to N I thought maybe a bug could have need ironed out but I'm still having heating issues and bad battery life. I'm calling google today and going to get a replacement. I'm at my wits end and have resorted to using my old iPhone 6 Plus which I absolutely hate.
