Is there a list of do this to your phone when you first get it? Never had a nexus but on all my notes I go into applications start disabling, changing settings for battery, enabling developer options, etc

Re: Initial settings

I wouldn't recommend changing anything really, I don't have the 6p, but I've had the Nexus 6 and Nexus 5x - for me the Nexus devices are built the way Google intended them to work, I don't see any need to disable anything as they work brilliant out the box.

sure you could dim the brightness down to preserve battery, but apart from that just enjoy your phone :D

Re: Initial settings

100% agree with "the tall guy."

And I'll add that you should avoid piling on a launcher until you have spent a week with the stock experience.

It's going to look different, feel different... give yourself some time to absorb the change before you rush to make it just like your previous phone. It's a really great phone in its stock form.

Enjoy it!

Re: Initial settings

I doubt a list exists that is universal to all users.
However, there is no reason not to disable or uninstall any apps you don't use.
Its your phone, use it how you want, not how someone else tells you to.
If there is something you use/dont use that is accessible from developer settings, enable them and change it. If not, dont bother with them.
Battery, you probably wont have to do much other than disabling/uninstalling things you dont use. Doze works really well (when its conditions are met).

Thats the beauty of the Android experience, you shape it to your liking.

Best way is to use a different launcher... my favorite is Nova... you can use the free version, but the paid version adds a few features that are nice to use... it's worth it.

Search the Play Store... there are a LOT of Calendar options there, but you can not change Google's Calendar... just use a 3rd party widget.

You'll need a 3rd-party calendar app.

How or can you remove the google bar at the top of the home screen?

You'll need an alternate launcher such as Nova.

Under what context? A launcher is just a "skin" like Samsung's TouchWiz (though not QUITE as deeply integrated).

Because you could have made it easier and just put all your questions in one thread.

I'm guessing by "on top" you mean in the notification bar... yes, if you search the play store, they have an app, or should I say a few apps... that is the easiest way.

Battery percentage can be shown in the battery icon itself. Tap and hold on the settings gear icon. It should change to show a wrench next to it. Next tap the gear icon, scroll to the bottom to the system ui tuner. The option is in there.

Or if you find the built in battery percentage too small, like me, this is a great app that puts the batter percentage at the top of your screen:

Battery HD

Also gives you other battery stats if you're interested.

Ha. Wasn't letting me post. I've tried hundred times for system ui but it isn't working

First thing I do is go into the pulldown menu and enable system ui tuner so I can get a battery %
