Hi everyone, I posted the below on XDA as well so please disregard if you have seen it over there, thanks!!!

So I have read a ton of conflicting information on insurance for the Nexus 6p ( only looking at Square Trade and Asurion not Nexus Protect)

So here are my questions if anyone that has actually made a claim with Asurion or Square Trade (most interested in Square trade at this point) please let me know, thanks!!

1- If a claim is made with Square trade and the phone is not repairable, do they have Nexus 6p's as replacements? Or is it going to be like Asurion where they will send you a "like" device?

2- If the phone is repairable through Square trade, do they support repairs for this device? Or will they just send me a monetary value?

3- Is it confirmed that Asurion will in fact drop your insurance (Verizon) if you activate the Nexus 6p on your line? (I have not activated it on Verizon yet, using google fi right now, I know they have a protection plan but I will be using this plan only when I run out of minutes on Verizon line, grandfathered in so not going to be able to use google fi insurance either)

I have Asurion on my line, I want to purchase Square Trade for my Nexus 6P since Asurion will not replace it if necessary but I want to make sure that Square Trade will fix my device if I need it to be fixed or replace with a Nexus 6P. Thanks everyone!!

(Nexus Protect is not an option for me, I purchased on Swappa but since I have Asurion I can submit for Square Trade)

I do not have Verizon, but I can answer numbers 1 and 2 at least.

1 - If the 6p is not repairable, Square Trade will cut you a check for the purchase price of the phone. They don't send you "like" devices. However, that usually requires you to prove how much you paid.

2 - Yes, if Square Trade can repair it, they will as long as it's financially feasible for them. Otherwise, they will write you a check.

Good Luck.

I called Asurion in advance and asked if I would be dropped and they told me that I would not (i told them I have 2 phones on the one line as I switch phones), however on the safe side I have not put the sim in the phone based off of what I read here on the forums. I spoke with Squretrade and let them know that I am currently covered with Asurion, I had a letter sent to me from Asurion verifying my coverage as of this month, I told squaretrade the deal and they said that they just need the proof of coverage for the line. So I really don't know if it will work but based off the conversation with Asurion they will not drop my coverage and I can submit my proof to Squaretrade.

So that's why I am asking about the claim questions above.

Nexus Protect is cheaper all around. Not to mention your dealing with Google directly not some third party. Even though it only lasts two years, I don't keep phones and longer than that

Thanks, I am not eligible for Nexus Protect, I purchased from Swappa.

Also one other note and I don't know if this has anything to do with Asurion coverage, but I have the asurion legacy plan with Verizon and I know that Asurion is like Verizon, depending on who you get on the phone will determine the answer to the question.

With regards to the proof of purchase, I was able to get a copy of the invoice from the seller so I would assume that would hold up with Squaretrade if they needed to give a monetary value. Thanks again for your help!

That's a good idea. I was just wondering how I was gonna get insurance because my contract is almost up and I want to go with prepaid.

I got mine at Best buy, and the 2 year is like $140 or something and the deductible is $159 or something like that.... It came to about $300 of a device was to be replaced.

I paid $450 for the device brand new, so the coverage has crept up past the point where it's cost-effective for me. If this breaks, I'll just buy a new one.
