I've been rocking my 6p for 3 years now and have per-ordered the Pixel 3 XL. Anyone else finally ditching the 6p? My 6p has been a super phone, had the battery replaced over a year ago and according to my battery app it sill has 95% of the capacity that it came with when replaced. Will I see a big change in battery life with the P3 XL?

I have my Nexus 6P for 2.5 years. Battery has definitely degraded (haven't replaced it yet), the camera is no competition to the latest flagships and for sure not for latest Pixels. We haven't received Android 9 and we never will.
I thought to upgrade to Pixel 2 XL rather than Pixel 3 [XL]. Much cheaper, great camera and 2 more years of software updates.
I prefer google phones over other manufactures because of great camera, stock system and quick updates.
What do you think?

I'm another 6P user and am still trying to decide on the Pixel 3(maybe XL). I'm not sure i am fond of the the whole not being able to disable gesture navigation thing.

I got used to 9.0 and gestures almost immediately. The other day I upgraded another phone I have to 8.0 and didn't feel natural going back

Gestures are surprisingly intuitive. Once you get used to them, you don't want to go back.

yeah they aren't bad at all. I didn't like them when I first turned it on my pixel xl either but I've grown to like them

Happy 6P owner here. Prefer the stock Android and timely updates of Google phones. I have no problem paying flagship prices for a top end phone, but I want 2-3 years use out of them. My concern about the P3 generation phones is they don't seem very future proof. 4GB of ram may be OK now, but in two years? 5G is just around the corner (at least here in LA) and will surely be included in flagships before the end of the P3 lifespan. As someone said on another thread, the P3's are like 's' versions of the P2 - minor upgrades and better screens. Google can spin the 'we don't play the specs game' BS all they like, but part of the 'specs game' at this price point is longevity of quality usage.

Looked at the P3's at Best Buy. Frankly, I prefer the hand feel of the metal N6P. All glass does nothing for me and don't understand the appeal (wireless charging, pfft - fast charge is so quick it's unnecessary IMO). I've been targeting the P3 as my N6P replacement since passing on the P2XL's crap screen, but ATM $900 for a P3XL doesn't feel like a good long term investment. Would look at the 1+6 as a tide-over but must be on VZW, so no-go. Honestly not sure what to do and may just keep the 6P for another year.

(Note: I don't use the camera much so the Pixel's strength doesn't play to my needs.)

I have had my Nexus 6P for 3 years as well. I was an early Project FI adopter and that was the phone I ordered with Project FI.

I upgraded to Pixel XL last Fall. I wanted the unlimited photo storage option and Pixel XL is a great phone. I still find th e6P to be a great device. Size, speakers display. all good.

My Nexus 6P was still rocking strong, Until recently started shutting off randomly even though it shows significant battery %.
I feel the battery is finally failing.

I am upgrading my Pixel XL to the Pixel 3 XL.

I got Pixel XLs for the wife and I when they first came out but just couldn't take the drop in screen size. My wife's is still going strong and I gave the other Pixel to my youngest son instead of my 6p. It also is still going strong. Cant wait for my P3 XL to get here!

Still love my Nexus 6P . . . replaced once under warranty and replaced the battery this year. Buy the 6P is struggling now even after removing all but a handful of apps. It was a good run. The 6P served me well, but it's time to move on . . .

I love my Nexus 6p , but it was short lived before I sold it because battery issue

Even though my 6P didn't have any issues, I decided to get rid of it last winter to avoid potential early shutdown problem. The Pixel 3 XL would definitely be a big upgrade for performance, camera and battery life.

I really liked my Nexus 6P. The infamous battery problem reared its ugly head after 20 months and Google replaced the N6P with a brand new Pixel XL. That has been my daily driver since Sept. 2017, but I have preordered the Pixel 3 XL to replace it. My nephew's N6P's battery is on its last legs, so he will be getting my Pixel XL.

I don't think that this is going to be a problem. Google is good at optimizing their software, and they are also beginning to make use of the specialized processors, which don't directly replace RAM, but do make a difference.

That's a real issue, I think. It's true of pretty much any high end phone. It makes glad that I bought a high end phone last year - it should mean that I won't go TOO long without 5g.

All glass does nothing for me and don't understand the appeal (wireless charging, pfft - fast charge is so quick it's unnecessary IMO).
I'm not into wireless charging either, but a lot of people seem to like it. Google is clearly trying to deal with the issue of the feel of glass. A lot of people seem to think that it's well done, but I hear what you are saying.

I am still on the fence as to whether i should hold out another year with the 6P(the battery life is slow fading is my main issue) or go for the 3 XL.
