Android Central Question

I recently replaced my Nexus 7 (2012) charging port assembly, and when I plugged it in when I was finished, the device wouldn't charge. This is a brand new charging board assembly that I just installed, and it won't work. Where did I go wrong? I followed an iFixit guide to do the repair, but I am not sure why it won't charge now. Please help!

Try to open back up and recheck your steps , there are tiny parts that can work loose if bumps slightly and make sure good connections

I opened it back up, and it looks just like it did before I replaced it, except the charging port itself wasn't recessed into the interior of the device.

I'm not quite sure how to proceed next, and I don't know exactly what the cause of the problem is, and I don't have anyone physically around me who can help, either.

I ordered the part from Amazon. The only difference between that and the original is that whatever shielding or insulation on the ribbon cable that connects the 3.5mm jack to the micro USB port is silver, and not beige, and the cable is approx. a millimeter or less longer.

You are probably right, but I really wanted to fix it myself, because I am low on funds, and I have some experience repairing electronics and it's a hobby of mine. Do I have any other options?

I'd suggest waiting until you have more money saved up, and then taking the tablet to a repair shop, since trying more DIY might cause more damage.

Yeah I'm in the same boat with my pixel 2xl charger port that needs to be replaced, I know I have to send it in to be repaired, I'm kinda handy myself with repairs but sometimes letting the pros do it so we dont cause more damage like Laura said .
