Nexus 7 2012 - touch screen not touch any more!

Used my N7 whilst waiting for a plane at SF Intl - Got on the plane, switched it on and attempted to input password, but no reaction from the screen at all. device then went to sleep as if I had not touched the screen at all!
HELP
