Nexus 7 32 GB - how buggy is it?

I've had my heart set on getting a Nexus 7 for a while now. I find the size to be good, 10 is a bit too large, and the specs are stunning for little money! However, I've been reading about some problems people have been having with the N7 rebooting randomly, GPS problems and lock ups.
I'm curious, is it really that buggy? Or are these just isolated incidents, one bad batch or something.
Someone said that it was the 16gig that was causing most problems.

We have two 32GB in the family with no problems. You will probably see a number of replies. No hardware is perfect.

Obviously, working in IT, I expect some bugs here and there for instance my phone (Galaxy S2) sometimes reboots for no reason. But I don't expect a brand new computer to be so buggy that it's almost unusable.

Issues with GPS and screen were resolved a few months ago with a firmware update. Mine is trouble free

I love my 32GB Nexus 7 (2013), but just yesterday I found it stuck displaying the pulsating X and some screen artifacts like red dashes. I believe that an auto update to one of Google's apps caused the problem. After doing a factory reset with data wipe, the problem went away. After all the apps updated, many of the google processes were erroring out without being able to send a debug report to Google (that process failed, too). I was able to get it back to running normally by doing another factory reset and disabling auto-update in the play store. It's been stable for about 8 hours now. Hardware wise, it's a beautiful device. software wise, I'm still on the fence - how could Google's quality be so bad as to brick their own tablet? I was under the impression that "Nexus" would be a good thing. I'm starting to think the delays the HTC and Samsung have getting out updates, might be better than having to factory reset my tablet.

Yup, it had some issues early on, as most products do (even iProducts o.O) but pretty much all of them have been ironed out through firmware updates.

I had the GPS issue, but since they patched it with firmware, I don't have any issues at all.

I've only had one minor issue with the tablet and it was easy to resolve. The updates have handled most of the bugs you hear about and have had no problems since.

Mine isn't buggy at all. I absolutely love this tablet.

Even though I purchased a 32 gb from the newly released Nexus I have had not one problem..I have about 118 apps and it is flawless..

Absolutely trouble free with my 32gb Nexus 7. I have only had issues with apps that is software issues from the developer, not hardware dependant.

EXACTLY...99% of issues are with a buggy app that was written for a phone, but downloadable by a tablet...

FWIW, I had the same apps on my N7 (2012 version) and the N7 FHD...at least they autoinstalled when I logged into Google w/ the new tablet. The old tablet *never* rebooted randomly. The N7 FHD rebooted 3-4 times in the 3 weeks I had it before returning it. I've been waiting for a while hoping it was just some quirk they're fixing before buying a new one. It probably rebooted more than that....most of the time, I didn't have it face up, so I didn't notice it at the Nexus X symbol...one time it locked up while I was just viewing web pages and rebooted...the rest, it was just sitting on the coffee table and I could see the reboot animation.

Could several reboots possibly be explained by the several operating system upgrades we've had?

It'll prompt you for the reboots when the OS gets updated.
What I saw was the X animation showing up randomly...or after that lockup while using the browser. Leave your tablet face up on a desk you can see most of the day and see if you notice it...

My ancient Motorola Cliq also had this issue and it was really annoying...in that case, checking system uptime would look ok but the Android OS was what rebooted. I forgot to check this when I had my N7FHD :-P

Well, I have to retract my "love the hardware, but not sure about the software". I replaced the N7 32GB with a new one and same software works great, so I'm now convinced that I just got a bad first tablet and the problem slowly got worse over the three weeks I owned it. It got to the point that with only the default apps installed, chrome would crash instantly and the tablet would reboot every few minutes. So, the software isn't buggy and the hardware remains beautiful, but it looks like there are some bad ones at the stores. Since it took 3 weeks for mine to die, I'd recommend buying one at a store with a 30 day return policy and giving it a try.
