Hi, guys!

Picked up a Nexus 7 recently and must say that I am loving this device.

I have run into a few snags however, chief amongst them, an issue trying to copy/paste using an external keyboard.

I purchased the Microsoft Wedge Mobile BlueTooth keyboard and it works a charm. Trying to keep my fingers off the touch screen as much as possible, I tried to copy+paste some text from the keyboard. Hmmm... CTRL-C didn't seem to work so online I go...

I discovered that MENU-C is copy and MENU-V is paste, but it doesn't work. :(

The keyboard does have a dedicated menu key and in apps it (whaddya know) opens up the menu. However, the copy/paste functionality just isn't there. I tried the "Extended Keyboard" application but I couldn't find anyting in there to help me.

Since shortcuts do exist online, I'm guessing that it's either, (a). the Jellybean OS, or (b). my keyboard. Would anyone be so kind enough to confirm?

Can someone help me, or am I forever relegated to holding my finger down on the screen in order to copy/paste, despite having a keyboard.

Thanks very much. Have been a "lurker" here for a few weeks and finally took the plunge. :)

Cheers!

Download the External Keyboard Helper. It has a toggle which allows multiple-press key functions (e.g., CTRL + etc). Not to mention, you can program certain keys to have certain functions--very useful app. The trial version actually worked perfectly for me, but I decided to pay for the full app since I had the $25 Play credit.

Keep in mind, some apps don't allow certain features. i.e., I can't get CTRL + Z to work in anything, which is ungodly frustrating with processing apps; I've literally had it happen where I tried to copy text, but accidentally pressed like, "Shift + C" instead of "Ctrl+C", thereby replacing all my highlighted text with "C". Some apps don't even recognize the delete key. I'd blame the app and not the keyboard.

What I'm still looking for but can't find, is an auto-correct that works for external keyboards. I'm using a mini 8"x3" keyboard, which works surprisingly well, but I do have more typos than I would with a full keyboard.
