Nexus 7 sees SSIDs but no connection, even after hard resetting!
Yesterday, after being off for a few weeks, my Nexus 7 got a notification for updating to Android 6.0 installation. I ignored the message and went on to chat w/ my son via 'Hangouts'. In the middle of our conversation, my device lost the Wi-fi connection and the SSID went into the 'Saved' mode from the 'Connected' mode.
After trying turning off the device and back on, the problem did not go away. I then rebooted my router and that did not help. So I decided to update the device OS to 6.0. The update went smoothly but the Wi-Fi problem was not resolved.
I then wiped out all SSIDs and tried to reestablish the Wi-Fi connection. One after another, all known SSIDs went into 'Saved' mode, even though their signals were very strong. BTW, the battery level of my device was full all the time.
After that, I did both soft-factory-reset and hard reset.... to no avail. Now, every time the device is powered up, I'm presented with the new 'Welcome' screen but not able to go further than trying to establish a Wi-Fi connection. In short, the device can scan and see all available SSIDs but it refuses to connect to any of them regardless whether they are secured with passwords or not!
Additional info: My Nexus 5 phone and other computers at home experience no similar problem. Even turning them all off to dedicate the network to the device didn't work.
Please help - Thanks!
