Nexus 7 SLOW updating apps?

I've noticed that when I'm only running the play store and updating apps, the whole system becomes incredibly laggy, I can't even swipe between pages on the homescreen!
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Any ideas why? My s3 doesn't lag when updating :/.
Is there any fix?

Are you updating a whole bunch at the same time or one by one?

I've seen that on my Nexus 7, Asus TF300, and Razr Maxx. It doesn't help that Lookout also scans the app right after installing. I thought that was pretty much the norm.

yeah, mine does that too. Also, after I have updated a number of apps, I have found that the device in general is slower, even after the updates are complete. I have to reboot to get the smoothness back.

I'll try stopping the autoscan and see what happens.
