Nexus 7 St gen won't charge up or turn on.

Hi everyone I need help, ive got the 1st gen nexus 7 and ive had no problems with it at all, then one day it just went off and I couldn't firm it back on, I can't even charge it, then one day it started charging then when I pulled out the charger it wouldn't and won't charge it no more, on the screen is only got the picture of the battery but it hasn't got the lightening line through it. I don't know if its a problem with the charging port or the battery needs replacing, ive tried all the steps that people have put up on posts to try, like holding the power button down on its own and also with the volume button as well and no luck, I've tried disconnecting the battery and connecting it back on but nothing seems to work, I can't get it fixed by Asus cos it's our of warranty so I really do need some help of anybody who's gone through the same problem as me, thanks.
