Nexus 7 tethering to a Nexus 4?

Hey all. I purchased a Nexus 4 last Tuesday (hopefully shipping this week... I can dream) and I purchased a Nexus 7 to use in the meantime to get my Android fix. However, I like it so much that I may end up keeping it. I purchased the WiFi only model from OfficeMax, and because it is so portable, I have been thinking it could really use the mobile data option. However, I could theoretically just tether it to my Nexus 4 and the extra money saved would (retroactively) go to the 16 GB model over the 8 GB model. Since I have my phone everywhere I go, it shouldn't be a big deal. The iPhone 4 I am using while my Note II is at Samsung for repair does not allow tethering, so I'm not sure if it is an Apple or AT&T issue. Bottom line: would I be able to tether my N7 to the N4 on AT&T? Thanks for the help!

Also: I've noticed that the N7 came dented out of the box on the four corners of the bezel, and the screen appears to flex when pressed slightly. Are these common problems with the Nexus 7? It's too bad the build quality could not be as good as the iPad mini, but the money saved + Jelly Bean (over iOS) is worth it to me.

Try foxfi on your N4 once you get it. I use it on my RAZR MAXX for tethering to my N7 and Xoom. I would also suggest swapping the N7 for an undamaged one.

I am doing exactly as you described with a N4 tethering a N7, just on T-Mobile. Works beautifully right out of the box with no adjustments needed. Since the N7 is running 4.2.1 also it will likely not trigger any alarms from AT&T concerning tethering.

My gfriend has T-mobile and am giving her a N7 with 4.2.1 for Xmas. Do I just install FoxFi on her Samsung phone? If that's the case, then there's no need to get a $15 tethering planfrom T-mobile. Is that correct?

And why does the fact that the N7 is running 4.2.1 lessen the likelihood of alarms being triggered concerning tethering?
