nexus 7 unlocked but will not root

Using Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.3 tablet successfully unlocked and reverted to facory state. Pressing root key process starts ok modified boot loader downloaded and running with files pushed. tablet then hangs in the bootloader and does not continue bootup. PC waiting for the device to finish boot up, Had to force boot by holding power button for 10seconds. Super SU, binaries and busybox are not installed so rooting incomplete. Any Ideas how to manually root and install files ?

You will have to flash custom recovery I believe. But check this out

what are the advantages of rooting the nexus 7? I just bought mine and am not having any issues doing what every i need to do.

It let's you hack around with it. If your 7 is working fine there is no reason to root
