Ok two quick things guys:
1. Can I install the 4.2.2 update on nexus 7 while still being rooted on 4.2.1 or I first have to un-root and lock it?
2. What's changed in the new update? Is it worth the trouble?

Get the RootKeeper app and use it to save your root before the update, than after the update use it again to restore root.

Thanks but its too late. I already updated and lost the root. Would have to wait for root toolkit v 1.6.3 :(

Or just boot a custom recovery and flash the SU.zip. Takes 5 seconds to root a Nexus :)

How do u do that? Lol I was just gonna wait for that software update. But I can do it without it?

Pick your custom recovery - I prefer TWRP. Download image from here: Techerrata Downloads - Downloading openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-grouper.img
Download and stick SuperSU on your tablet: http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip?retrieve_file=1

Boot to bootloader and fastboot the recovery:
fastboot boot openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-grouper.img

Find the SuperSU zip and flash it. Reboot and enjoy. :)
