Nexus One on ATT anyone ?

once you get used to 3G (UMTS) being able to allow for simultaneous voice and data... you really miss it when you fall back on Edge... people make fun of AT&T's commercials for that... but it's a really important feature IMO

keep in mind, despite VZW saying their are "3G", EVDO does NOT allow for simultaneous voice and data... some folks are in for a rude awakening when the get the VZW version of the Nexus One.... LOL!!!!!!!!

You can get calls, your data stream just stops. Not a big deal. On verizon if you are browsing the web, or streaming Pandora, when a call comes in Pandora just stops, you take the call, then it starts back up when you are finished.

Its a nice feature to have simultaneous data & voice on ATT 3G, but mostly unnecessary as most of the "multitasking" one does on a smart phone when on a call is review stuff already on the phone like contacts, or emails.

i'm browsed plenty while on a call to look up something, or even using google maps while talking to someone... it's not "mostly unnecessary" to many people... maybe to you... but don't ASSume

I have to agree it is a big deal. I'm so used to checking stuff from Facebook to looking something up on the net when talking on my iPhone. Have to make sure I'm connected to WiFi when I use my Droid. Big deal - yes, deal breaker - no.

I'm not a verizon guy. I'm on ATT. Doesn't change the fact that its really not as big a deal as some think. Trust me I use my phone A LOT for work, and don't think I've ever 'needed' to be downloading something while on an actual call. So if I ever wanted to switch to Verizon I dont think I'd mind. And once LTE is up and running in the next few years the difference will be moot anyways (other than network range and reliability, which is where ATT suffers).

At home on your wifi, or at any wifi hotspot you can still do it. Although at home I always seem to have a laptop or computer in front of me which makes for better browsing than my phone anyways

Again its a 'nice feature' to be able to look at your facebook while getting giddy with your friend on the line at the same time, but its not as necessary as people blow it up to be.

The biggest restriction with EGDE only is the fact if you are using data all of your voice calls that may come in will not go through. I can't deal with that.

There's an app for that - voicemail.

My big Edge test was using Google Nav and real time traffic while stuck on I-95. Worked fine - updates only took a few seconds. I prefer the coverage of AT&T to TMobile so I am good using it this way.

A few seconds meaning like 10-20 seconds?

I've never gotten 'fast' EDGE speeds.

How is the battery life on the Nexus One? Is anyone using it in Manhattan? I just spent 3 days in NYC and my iPhone 3GS couldn't come close to lasting a full day...without talking! I was sitting in meetings and using mail and Twitter, etc.. Others had the exact same experience.
