Nexus S docks?

One of my favorite things about the Nexus One are the docks built specifically for the phone. I use them both a lot.

No one has mentioned anything about docks for the Nexus S. Looking at photos, I haven't seen any dock connector pins similar to those on the Nexus One. Does the current line of Samsung Galaxy S phones have docks? And I mean the kind that can just slip in without connecting cables and what not.

I use both of mine everyday. I couldn't drive without my nexus one now after using it for everything. Phone is secondary now!

If there are no docks especially the car dock then I wont buy. That 4" screen would look really good on my dash.

Thanks for the link. Now I see it has a usb connection which I can see the Nexus S will use. I still prefer the contact points of my N1.

I guess it is safe to assume Samsung will in fact release specific desk and car docks for Nexus S, hopefully on the 16th at Best Buy

I agree with the previous poster on Nexus One docks, I use them all the time, they are a part of my usage of the N1, especially at night for an alarm clock.

It also unlikely the existing Galaxy S docks will fit the Nexus S, given curved form factor. And I guess the Captivate, Vibrant, Fascinate, and Epic all have slightly different housings anyhow, so one dock for one wouldn't fit the other.

I'll be bummed if the docks are not available on the 16th though...

It's weird that Google hasn't posted anything on accessories. The reviews coming out now don't mention it either. Not a good sign.

I don't know about docks. That little back and the curves on the Nexus S may hinder dock-ability.

The Nexus S docks are a real step backwards from the Nexus One, almost as bad as the iPhone docks. I don't see how the Nexus One docks could have been improved but that's no excuse for going backwards. Maybe I will SLA up a custom dock like the lovely little Nexus One desk dock. The zero insertion force is going the be the only real problem but I guess I could make a USB dongle for the bottom to do that.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for Desk and Car docks? I like the Samsung docks, but $40 is a bit steep for a piece of plastic.

I was thinking about another feature of the Nexus One dock that is lacking in most docks. The Nexus One know what kind of dock it is in and can automatically launch a predefined app. For the Nexus S this behaviour could be done by using the new Android Open Accessory Development Kit which is open and only really needs a cheap AVR micro. Of course once you add an AVR to the mix then for a car dock adding a CAN interface would not be expensive and then the possibilities are endless. One more project for the growing list...
