Nexus S vs Evo 3d vs Photon -- I need advice

After using the evo 3d, I don't want to upgrade to a phone/camera in the future that doesn't have 3d. now I wish my nikon dslr could shoot in 3d, not for every shot, but some shots are really cool with it (e.g. landscapes with objects in them at many different depths).

I'm not a big fan of MotoBlur, but that launcher can easily be replaced, so I'm going to say go with the Photon. The Tegra 2 processor has much more power than the Snapdragon.

I personally use the Nexus S 4G, and will stick with it until the Galaxy 2 or next Nexus comes out. It does what I need, and is quick and responsive with everything that use.

NO.... Unless your talking about the original evo..

How were you able to do that?
I talked to two reps and they both told me that if I switched to the Nexus to try it out, I could not switch back to the 3D if I decided that I didn't like it.

Ha, I love these stories of reps flexing their power trying to tell people what they can, and cannot do. I'm pretty sure you can switch **** out, and return it, or whatever, as much as you like during that 30 day period. Sure, it can be obnoxious, especially since the phone can't be sold. But you can do what you want as long as it is reasonable to some degree.

I sold my EVO4G on ebay a month out (because I wanted top dollar). Then I bought the EVO Shift 4G, but I realized that if I am going to have a device to try out for a month, I might as well get something different, so I returned that and bought the NS4G. Then when my 3D came out, I returned the NS4G and bought the 3D. I felt a little guilty..but w.e, and if anyone tried to say anything, I could have just flat out returned it, and then go to another location.

I got Nexus S 4G last Saturday and had been played it since now. I LOVE IT! Battery saved my life! I tested hot it worked without charge and it's still alive 2 days!!! AWESOME!! I only check email, text, and calling. I never play game, youtube, or any apps. My bro got EVO 3D. He said he is annoyed cus his battery drain within 3 to 4 hours when he used calling and texting.

I am glad I got a right phone- nexus s 4g. I don't care about how speed it is or ram. I am just old fashion. I am 26.

I guess I'll be giving Sprint a call or a visit. I don't care how obnoxious it seems, as long as I'm in a 2-year contract I want to make sure I'm happy.

Sense or no sense should be the big differentiator. After running 1000 roms on my og EVO my opinion is that sense 3.0 on the 3d is the pinnacle of android. I am content waiting for root because this ROM is so good.

Love my evo 3d, I can get consistantly 12-14 hours on a charge. Texting, calling, browsing, games. All included.

Get the Evo 3d. Even with the bloatware on this phone, it's amazingly fast. And just imagine how much faster it will be when we get root. Whether you like sense or vanilla, once we get root, I can hardly imagine buyer's remorse with this phone. Roms like Myn's Warm that optimize the crap out of sense or if you prefer vanilla (CM7), either way, there will be some awesome roms coming that will cater to whatever you prefer. If you DO like sense and you get the Nexus S, too bad cause there isn't the option for sense on Nexus. If you've ever seen what Myn's Warm does to sense, I'm telling you, we're in for a friggin treat.

All the bugs and common complaints about the Evo 3D are TEMPORARY. People are acting like they will last forever and the phone's only been out for 2 weeks. Problems like speaker volume, data connection, voice quality, battery, camera, etc. Without root, I've already remedied all these problems with a few quick fixes on my own. I'm telling you, when root comes, the power of this device will be fully realized and it will take a good year or longer for any rom to truly utilize the hardware on this thing. As far as I know, Nexus S development has pretty much reached a plateau, what you see is pretty much what you get. There might be optimizations here and there, but nothing earth-shattering, nothing out of the ordinary. But with the Evo 3d, there's no telling what this thing really is capable of. We've never seen a device with a 1.5ghz dualcore 1gb of ram and 4gb of internal memory AND a 3D stereoscopic screen been rooted and utilized to it's maximum potential. Without perma root, the device is already overclocked to 1.8ghz, and with future undervolting, this shouldn't affect battery life very much if at all. Really, the future is in the Evo 3D.

Amusing how just about everyone who has had both went back to the Nexus. I didn't have both, but played around with the 3d quite a bit before settling on the Nexus. With normal use out of the box, the Nexus is flat out smoother, faster, and better all around. Yes, with rooting the 3d will be a beast. The Nexus rooted , with its "old" hardware, kills everything else out there right now. By a lot. The thing you have to remember is that in 3 months the 3d will be old hardware. I remember when the EVO came out and everyone was all excited about the snapdragon. 2 months later everyone was talking about the hummingbird. I understand why now, there isn't even a comparison between the two.

In the end, they're both good phones. Build quality on the Nexus is better than the original EVO in my opinion. Both will be supported for a long time.

Since we have to take into account that you will have this for 2 years, I would eliminate the Nexus S immediately. Once Ice Cream Sand. is released that phone gets left behind dual core phones. Add to that, my personal experience with the Nexus S was terrible. The first day I had it I missed 3 calls, and twice I couldn't call out. And don't get me started on the GPS issues.

So it would come down to the Motorola vs HTC. I guess it depends on if you plan on rooting and what UI you like better. If you don't root, the Sense UI blows MOTO Blur away, and that's the popular opinion. If you do root then that doesn't really matter. Personally I would recommend the 3D just because it will have better dev support, more custom roms. The Photon is butt ugly to me, I don't think i could look at that for 2 years. If Sprint was getting the Bionic, I would have a harder decision just because it looks better.

Honestly either phone will be great, its all just personal preferences. I would always recommend HTC, just because I've had great luck with the 3 phones I've had. If the Galaxy SII was coming soon I would really have a tough decision.:)
