before i try this and ruin my n10 i thought i'ld ask first --

can i hook my pc up directly to my N10 using the otg cable? i have already hooked my pc up using the regular charging cable but using the regular cable allows the n10 to stay in usb slave mode, with the pc as the usb host. however, the otg cable puts the n10 into usb host mode. so will there be a conflict? i want to be able to leave my otg cable in the n10 while i switch out between a connection to the pc (host/for uploading application files) and a ftdi cable (slave/for testing a remote controller).

I wouldn't try it. Among other things the OTG cable tells the tab to provide power. I would expect having both devices in that mode not to be good. Other then the lack of having to unplug the cable, why is it you want to to this.

i am developing some android programs using the pc that get uploaded to the n10 to execute. the program uses the ftdi cable which requires the otg cable. so i was having to upload the program using the regular usb cable/bridge and then unplug and plug in the otg cable setup. its a hassle and the insertion/removal of the cables multiple times into the micro usb port concerns me regarding wear and tear.

although i am still interested in the answer to my original question, i did come up with a work around by using a bluetooth connection/bridge between my pc and n10 so i am uploading/installing the apk via bluetooth which allow me to keep the otg plugged in (luckily this worked).
