So the Nexus Wireless Charger looks to be available in the UK today, but in the details it says the following:

What's in the box
Nexus Wireless Charger
9 W 1.8 A AC Adaptor (For use in the United States and Canada only)
Micro USB Cable
Quick start guide
Warranty Card

I phoned up the Play store (hoping this is a copy/paste error) and the nice lady told me that it would work using a laptop etc, but that the supplied adaptor would only work in the US/Canada.

Does this make sense?
Why would they sell this in the UK with a USA adaptor????

Surely that makes no sense. My Nexus 5 takes significantly (hours) longer to charge using basic USB than when I use the supplied charger.

It doesn't really make sense, but a cheap adapter plug should fix things just fine. The charger itself will know the difference in current.

But why on earth would I want a wobbly plug adapter on it? That's just another thing to carry around. Plus we're assuming it's a universal power supply and won't be fried by 240V.

As if that wasn't enough, Google then want to charge another 30% on top just to deliver the thing. Delivery charges for a Nexus 5 are less than that and the Nexus would be both bulkier and more valuable to ship.

I was offering a cheap and easy solution of the problem for the original poster. You don't have to take my advice. Then again, you may not have any other options.

Almost all chargers now will sense when it is 240 and handle it just fine. It is the amps that matter, not the voltage. I have been traveling back and forth between the continents for several years using US chargers with no problems.

It's confusing that it says for use in the US and Canada only. If true then this is could be how they're making back lost money on the phones - flogging US units in UK and charging over ?11 to deliver the thing!

Think I'm going green to look elsewhere for my QI charger.

So I did not believe the nice lady at Google so I emailed them instead. After getting elevated to technical I got a response saying the following:

When items are purchased in the UK you will receive the UK power adapter. I can certainly understand how confusing it can be the way you see the information provided to you on Google Play, but rest assured that you will receive the proper power adapter.

?11 delivery sucked the fat one, but I can confirm this is true as I received the charger yesterday
