NFC chips get hacked easy.

Essentially - this type of vulnerability is what killed these kinds of uses of bluetooth. The idea of using a wireless connection for payments scares me - but I'm sure at some point in the future the risks will be outweighed by the benefits.

At least with the phones one has to input a pin to open up the app containing the data.

As is the case with Google wallet for example:

How does Google Wallet protect my payment credentials?
Your payment credentials are stored in a chip called the Secure Element contained within your Nexus S 4G. The Secure Element is isolated from your phone’s main operating system and hardware. Only authorized programs like Google Wallet can access the Secure Element to initiate a transaction. Additionally, because Google Wallet enforces a PIN, the only way to transmit payment credentials is if you first enter the PIN.

Thanks for the vid, now I know to be on the look out for a fat guy who rubs his man purse on my butt (or crotch in the case of a Nexus in my front pocket). Normally I would let that go unchecked, but no more.

Scary stuff IMO. I dont think any of my cards have the chip...YET! Thank god!

May have to look into the selves in the near future.

Getting cc info isn't the same as purchasing. We risk having cc info stolen EACH TIME we use the card. This method is no different.

This video plays on the FUD associated with lack of notification that the NFC was used. To address the need, all that's required is an audible sound and notification that cc info was "read" via the NFC method.

I had my card data stolen years ago by a waiter in NYC. He would take the card with the envelope to the register and when no one was looking he had a reader tied to his ankle under his pant leg.
Now with the near field stuff, Im assuming it will just take a forged reader kinda like what our NJ gas stations do. I mean did.
