Just getting into the idea of using NFC tags. I've heard there are ones not compatible for the S4.

Just curious as to what everyone recommends the best ones are. Performance and cost come into play. I'm only looking to have 5 or so

If you're worried about reliability then I'd check out the NFC Tags by Samsung. I've always felt that OEM is the way to go with anything but then again I'm paranoid. The only reason I break down and go aftermarket is when the OEM product isn't available or has a design inconvenience that I'm not a fan of.

Ironically, the original Samsung TecTiles do not work with the S4, but the TecTile 2's do.

The S4 does not support Mifare type tags (a non-standard NFC tag) like the S2 and S3 did. The S4 does support Ultralight and NTAG203 tags, which are the most common types of standard tags. Here's a website that gives more information about it:

I was not aware of that. Thanks for the information because its very difficult to be on top of everything technology wise. :)

There are a few that arent such as the Kovio or the NXP ICode. I would recommend the Ntag203 because they work on your phone and would work on most other phones and readers as well. Its just a safe bet.
