Night mode makes Gmail a MESS

Night mode on the tablet is making Gmail a MESS. The interface is only partially darkened and on the parts that are the text is not flipped to white so it can't be read. I REALLY want to use that mode but I don't really want to reset the device...

Use a different email client with proper darkmode?
