I had a Kenwood Head system installed in my vehicle so I could get Android Auto. I can't seem to get it to switch Day and Night mode via automatic. I can manually change mode in settings. Frustrating cause at night, the maps are way too bright but if I use maps in night mode during day, can't really see what I need to see. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S10. Tried reinstalling Android Auto, did all updates I could find on Kenwood and other apps. Any suggestions on how to get the Day/Night to auto switch?

How is your device set-up? Does it auto switch or do you use dark theme all of the time?

I'm assuming that this is the display on the head unit we're talking about, does the head unit have settings for this or are those the settings you've been attempting to change?

Auto switch, at least on the device, is usually controlled by the time. In the vehicle lighting changes are usually changed by a light sensor. Are all of the wires and cables connected to the head unit, does it change on its own if you're just listening to the radio, let's say, and the street lights come on, besides feeling the need to rush home, does the display change on its own?

I have Dark Mode turned on phone all the time (to save battery life and easier on my eyes). Head Unit is one I want to auto switch day and night. I tried car controlled (developer settings), phone controlled. No auto changing on car controlled nor phone controlled.

Personally, I would try asking or searching this in a Kenwood forum since the issue is the head unit not doing something.

Got issue fixed, installer of head unit did not hook up cable from vehicle to head unit to trigger auto switching. All good now (with Car Switched turned on in Developer Settings of AA).
