No 2.2. So what? Being positive here.

Interested in this too. I'm also within the 30 day window with several days left. I'm carefully been awaiting news from Sprint at CES and nothing.

If Froyo and TW 3.0 were out now....I'd be so happy and wouldn't give a hoot about CES as I'd have no interest in any other phone for a good while.

I'm starting to think that we won't hear anything from Sprint until either MWC or CTIA. And we won't get anything newer/better anytime sooner than June. So, I'm sticking with the Epic, which should perform well enough for anything I want to do between now and then, and then circle back and regroup over the summer. Heck, maybe I'll just buy the next-gen webOS device full price...

My replacement epic is here and has not locked up or restarted on it's own yet. Of course I haven't had it for 24 hours yet but the old phone would have restarted at least once by now.

Even the captive (i think they are called) buttons at the bottom are more responsive. Especially the back button which had to be pushed three or four times on the old phone.

Ok I am thrilled! My replacement Epic is everything my original one wasn't! Super smooth, Super stable. I have loaded a ton of apps and have not had any issues with any of them. This phone is rock solid, not a single burp. I can't believe I waited so long in replacing it. I kept thinking it was software issues and was waiting for 2.2 to stablize it. Boy was I wrong...

Glad to here it. Been following your progress for awhile on this one ;)

That's the way a samsung epic is supposed to work. Mine is beautiful on its performance. I really am fully satisfied with this phone except for its thickness, but I get over that quick. I really enjoy how I know that my device will outperform any device that people surrounding me are holding in their pocket :-) except of course if its another epic. In that case, its the same :-)

I may need a replacement epic. Please advise

I've been following your progress lately and glad that you got a replacement epic from Sprint! If I have the $7/month insurance... Could I get a replacement with out paying a hefty deductible? Please let me know if there was any problems for you to get a replacement. I'm considering calling Sprint or webchatting with them about this issue.

While my problems are not as severe as yours.. My capacitive buttons along the bottom of the phone are not as responsive as they should be. Especially the "back" button requires a long pause or several attempts before it works. My Wife's epic and Father's epic are both fine... Mine seems to be a bad apple. Beyond this issue, I've been fortunate.

However, having had the phone for 4+ months... And flashing DK28, without any improvement to the capacitive response. (I hoped that a software update would fix this issue)...I'm getting tired of this issue.

THANK YOU

The capacitive buttons specially the back button are more responsive. They didn't charge me a penny for the replacement phone.

I am with you on this...
I was a Palm Loyalist since the days of the palm Professional.
Pal/HP IMO has missed the boat. Even if they do release a better new device, I do not see how Developers will flock to it and support it enough to pull me off of Android.

I keep my Pre around and use it as a Wifi only gaming media device. but i will never go back to WebOs as my main smart phone.

It's sad to say, but true. I really really like webOS, and I truly miss the ease of use that it brought along. I was always hoping for that new webOS device that would rock my socks off, but it never came. However, now Matias Duarte, the largest single designer of webOS is on the Android User Interface team, and for this reason, I will likely stick with Android if google really did allow him to work his magic with Honeycomb. If he did anything similar to the work that he has done in the past, then I will be with Android for a long time, at least until he leaves that company. I love the way he designs User INterface on mobile devices. I think it is even better than iOS's super simplicity (however this super simplicity has the side effect of bringing the dummies on board with iOS, thus the names "i-g-phone 4G," "iPhone 4G4," "4 Phone iG," or even just iPhone 4G, etc.... I've heard them all).

I thought the insurance had a $100 deductible. But I assume either way I will be getting a refurbished Epic. This is the main reason I have been holding off.

You know? Who cares if it's refurbished or not? If it works better than your NEW phone, isn't it better? I once got a reburb phone (not an Epic) and it looked brand new. Not a scratch, not a scuff, but it lacked the one thing my previously "new" phone had...a problem.
