Hello guys.I was wandering if anybody found a solution for korean LG V20 H990DS not having an option for 3g call (4g and wi-fi call too).
The video call icon on the dialer and the option in the "call setting" are non-existant.
The phone works flawless but this tiny-winy thing is spoiling the perfection for me.

Welcome to Android Central! I believe video calling from the Phone app requires 4G LTE (since it utilizes VoLTE technology). Were you somehow able to make video calls from the Phone app in the past while on 3G only?

Thank you for the welcome.yes,I have ben utilising video call over 3g from the native dialer of my discarded Chinese siswoo r8 (android 4.4.2).btw as you can see on the thumbs,I am on a 4g connection. The problem is that the options for the video and volte are missing.

Which carrier are you on, and where are you located? I'm not aware of any carrier in the US that has video calling over 3G. Also, in the US, video calling usually requires that you use a phone sold by that carrier.

Oh.I'm so sorry.I forgot to mention the phone is not locked to any carrier and am based in Europe (Slovenia).Bought it online from some euro warehouse for 340€.the phone got the latest updates up to may 2017.

Ok, but which carrier are you on currently? Have you asked them if video calling is available on 3G using that phone?

Hello,I'm on a local carrier that said their network provides video calls by default and 3g calls should work on any phone that support that feature. And it worked on my former phone. This phone however doesn't even have a video call icon on the dialer nor any kind of option for video calls to be turned on...

For my V20 and carrier, a person has to have VoLTE turned on, and also have Wi-Fi calling turned on.

The video calling may no use either of those. But for the phone to turn on video calling options, those two options also have to be enabled.

Well, sadly, none of of these options do not exist on my phone,to be enabled.Thanx for the reply though

My H990DS has no video call option on dialer nor contacts and that makes very difficult for my little boy to see his granddad (who is far away and not able to use any app excerpt the stock dialer to make a video call) .Can somebody who has it on his phone please try to make apk-s of these apps with es file explorer (or any other way) and upload them somewhere (and post a link) so I could try and see if it will work on my phone.Btw I know that there's a bunch of such apps on the playstore but I would like to try the stock verizon,at&t,t-mobile,h990n (and the rest of v20 army) dialers that came with our phones.Thank you

Video calling isn't just about the app. Your carrier has to support it as well. I know with Verizon it only works on LTE, not 3G. The other person's carrier and phone also have to support it. So I wouldn't get my hopes up on this idea working.

It would honestly be easier if you got something like Skype. If for some reason your grandson can't install that on his phone, he could also connect via Skype from a computer with a webcam and mic.

Or use Google Duo. The other person has to install it as well, but since it's a Google app, it integrates tightly into an Android phone. It's also usable on iPhones as well.
