no app notifications appearing on whatch

I am not receiving notifications for any phone app on my watch.

I checked the wearable app and notifications are on.
Show only while wearing is off
Show while using phone is off
Apps installed in the future is off

If I go into the "Apps to get notifications from"
I currently have two on mm email app and messages app

Any help is greatly appreciated

I forgot to mention. The watch is connected to my phone by bluetooth.
If I open the watch settings it shows as "connected by bluetooth"

for a test, turn on show when wearing and when using the phone to see if you get notifications. also turn powercycle both the phone and the watch.

I tried this and there still are no notifications on my watch. I sent myself an email and a text message. Both show notifications on my phone.
But no notifications are received on the watch
