No auto correct for the keyboard?

The HTC One doesn't seem to have in-place auto correct for the keyboard. I couldn't figure out any way to enable it.
To be clear, there *IS* predictive text and if you make a mistake, often the right word will appear in the prediction bar but you have to manually click it to replace the typo.

There is no auto correct on-the-fly like stock Android that allows you to blaze through messages, emails, IMs etc whilst correcting everything on the fly.

1. Is there a way to enable this? (short of downloading an alternative keyboard)
2. Is there a non-hacky way to get to the Jelly Bean stock keyboard with it auto-correct?
3. Why would they remove such a great feature when it is already part of stock Android?
4. Don't you guys feel hampered by lack of on-the-fly auto correct?
5. Is the Sense keyboard made by or in partnership with Swiftkey?
6. The auto suggest/predictive feature usually correctly highlights the right word (the other words are not in bold), is there some button that can be pressed to insert this bolded word?

Note: The new Galaxy S4 emits this feature as well

You don't have it enabled. I misspelled hellp, pressed the space bar and it corrected it to hello. Then it gave me 3 options, pressed one of them then it gave me the next prediction and so forth. To turn it on, go to language and input, then HTC sense input settings, turn off trace keyboard then go to advanced and turn on next word prediction. I'll admit 3rd party apps (mainly Swiftkey) work much better but the HTC stock keyboard does a decent job imo

Yea, seems to be your HTC One--Autocorrect works as expected here (and like others have said). Instead of returning it, I'd suggest just trying to flip all the settings to off, restarting, putting them on, restarting and seeing if that gets it all set properly. That, or a factory reset.

Hope you get it sorted out! I've actually found it to work really great and efficiently, catches a lot of my errors.

I have noticed that mine only does this in certain apps. It does it when I open the keyboard up in a text message or on Facebook but not when I'm on certain websites or other apps where the keyboard is needed :(

Yea for whatever reason it only works in certain apps. Not sure if it's the apps, the keyboard or just how android operates. Maybe a 3rd party keyboard will have a little more flexibility. Sorry!

I gave it in and they're going to re-flash it.

You guys mentioned it not working in certain apps, does it work on all IM apps? (Whatsapp, Viber, Skype, Gtalk)?
