Just read that chromecast and mirror features have been removed from Samsung phone and only work with Samsung tv's.

Are we entitled to a refund or exchange if this was one of the main points of buying the damn phone. I have two Sony tv's and now can't Chromecast to them, what a joke!

When samsung and Google keep taking away customization features away, they also take reasons to have Google or samsung phones. Customization is why most of us are here and not at apple.

If you're out of the 14 day return period you are going to fight a huge up hill battle with samsung and more then likely want to kill yourself after dealing with samsung customer service.

Wow is this true? We just bought a new Sony Bravia TV and we love to cast! And we were planning on getting S21s in January.

you are supposed to use the Google Home for Chromecast. why does it matter that the new UI removed the ability to cast via their app when the Google Home is a broader, more complete solution?

why do we have to download a app now to get around it when before I just toggle it from the quick menu like other androids.

I've just tried the Google home it's full of bloat having to activate location and Bluetooth for a simple mirror.

i don't know what to tell you. you only have to dl it because samsung didn't include it. they could have, but they make you do all that super hard heavy lifting ;)

Okay but we usually cast YouTube videos and like I can go to Facebook watch and there's a casting icon at the top So does that mean anything with that casting icon at the top it won't be there on the S21 or it just won't let you cast it to a different TV other than Samsung? We have Chromebooks I mean I guess if we have to cast from another device or can we do it from the Chrome browser on our phone?

I don't really understand much about it. I just know my husband cast stuff all the time and I have before but we don't have a Google home In our house we have Alexas. But I guess if we have to cast some other way we're going to do it because our plans are to get the S21s in January. But we both have HP Chromebooks!

Samsung is saying it's due to permission issues with Android 11. I saw that Pixel users were reporting the same

the casting for youtube will still be there

I have been using the app All Cast for years and I was able to get it to work with my S20 Ultra on my TCL Roku TV. I don't use my Chromecast anymore

The cast button seems to be working through the apps that support it ie YouTube.

Only Samsung tvs come up through the Smartview, if you want to mirror to any other tv it has to be done through the Google Home app now, it can't be done through the Smartview in quick settings.

I don't like heavy lifting when my smartphone costs £1200, I could of went and bought a cheap Chinese phone and it would of been easier and more fluent then having to download apps for everything 🤨

My N20U works with Chromecast & smartview exactly the same way it did before upgrading to OUI3. When using smartview, my Rokus show up as targets just like they did before. Don't have a Samsung TV.

Yeah this pissed me off, I wouldn't have updated to A11 if I knew one of my main usage features on the phone was removed. Samsung keeps walking backwards, now like Apple se won't have charging blocks on the S21U either. It's things like this that make me so disappointed.

If your TV is Android based like my Sony, you may be able to cast directly using the screen cast from the phone. IIRC, on my Sony I had to update the cast app for it to function.

To be clear, I am using the built-in cast function on my Pixel. Both the TV and the phone need to be on the same network.

My s10e has stopped casting to my Chromecast Ultra since A11. Netflix, Prime, YouTube dont work. I am using a Samsung Tab S2 that does work for all apps though. I have just ordred a Sony x900h TV but doubt that will work either.

Casting to my Roku stopped working on my Pixel 3a+ after the latest Android 11 update. The Pixel 3a+ now does not see the Roku device. But it continues to work on an older Android 7 phone. Also, the Roku remote app from the Google Play store no longer sees the Roku device on my Pixel 3a+ but it continues to work on the Android 7 phone. Apparently Android 11 has added security measures that block the functionality that these apps use to cast to the TV.
