No Gmail notification badge

So is anyone else not getting notification badges for Gmail? My Hotmail thru Samsungs stock email app receives them, but curiously nothing I do will make Gmail display them. Yes I have notifications turned on for the app and Gmail sync is turned on under Accounts. not sure what else I need to enable.

(Fyi, it actually works if I use Nova, but not stock launcher - weird right?)

From what I've seen in other threads, the Gmail app actually doesn't have an unread count badge in TouchWiz.

Perhaps they only did it for native Samsung apps. Do you use Hangouts? Does that give you an unread count? Or Facebook?

No apps in their stock form have badge numbers, except for Samsung's apps, like messages, stock email app, etc & any app you give Samsung access to like Facebook.

Like you said, Nova w/ Tesla unread will give you what your looking for.

Hmmm when I used Hangouts I did not receive badges either now that you mention it. I do however get them on fb for what it's worth. I'd rather have them on gmail than fb though.

I couldn't get it to work using the TW UI either, but quickly went to 3rd party launchers and all of those that I rotate thru work fine. Sounds like another fail for TW.

Yeah only the stock Samsung one has the badges -- Gmail does not. You can get it by installing some 3rd party apps though.
