No lock screen Widgets with Pin - WTF?

Anyone have a work around when using a pin # lock?

It's great that I can double tap the lock screen with the S-pen to get a note but sure would be nice to use the camera and the other widget shortcuts. I don't get why they would let you use them with the swipe unlock but not the pin unlock. Grrrrr.

Then there is no option on the note for the action items . So I can quickly take down someone number or address from the lock screen but I can't call, add to contacts, map or do anything without unlocking & going through gyrations. What is the point? Might as well unlock so I can use the real action item note & camera.

Am I missing something?

That's because the swipe to unlock is not a security feature. It's more of a prevent from dialing/pressing buttons when the device is in your pocket kind of feature. If you have a password then it's to prevent unauthorized access into the device, including accessible widgets on the lock screen.

I never used a pin lock before but I didn't have a bunch of personal info on my old Droid X. Was looking forward to using the camera without unlocking but I am getting over it. Funny - so much new stuff. I kept seeing videos of people using the settings in tab mode. Took me two days to stumble on how to change to tab mode. My brain hurts & my wife wants to divorce me because all I do is play with phone settings and visit AC.

For what it's worth, the camera can be used if you have the official Samsung S-View Case when using a pin number for security. Not to mention the S-View case is the nicest I've used for far on the Note 3.

I have the S-View case from Samsung, while locked I can use the camera, listen to music and use action memo (when using it saves it to clip board to be used later) as stated above when the note is locked you do not want someone to have access to your device otherwise it defeats the point of it being secured.
There may be something in the play store or elsewhere that fits your needs....

No action items from lock screen but once you unlock the device and call the note up, the action item feature is in fact there. So this is a learning curve for me, need to figure out what about the S view case allows the camera use with the pin.

I looked at the S view settings but didn't see anything that mentioned camera.

You could also remove security from the main phone and then use KNOX to have secure space for things that need security.

Everyone, thanks for jumping in and providing options. That's what this community is all about :)

Haven't figured out what Verizon has done with Knox yet. Don't see it anywhere unless it's buried in Verizon Apps. In any event, back to the original post - starting to adjust my thoughts. I extended the time to 10 min. before it goes back to lock screen. That was driving me nuts. I like to capture pictures of my horses. That's why having quick access to the camera is important to me. With the extended time, I will be able to get to it.
I caught this one with the old Droid X camera - quality sucks & it was click and wait a century for the shutter but would have never got it if I had a pin lock.
