I have Galaxy S10+ phone and new Galaxy watch. Lots of bells and whistles. The watch itself has a "Messages" app.
My wife likes my watch, so she got one. Her phone is *not* Samsung. And her watch does not have a "Messages" app on it.
She can receive messages, and she can send messages using the Contacts app.
My guess is, only watches connected to a Samsung phone get the actual "Messages" app on the watch.
Am I correct?
I don't use Samsung Messages on my phone; I use Google Messages. But I can choose the "Messages" app on the phone and it works just fine. Caveat: when I launch it, it does note that "can't retrieve messages. Change your default messaging app to Messages?" I presume that means, do I want to use Samsung Messages on my phone. I get the option for checkmark or X. I hit X, and it simply puts me into my messages.
